MAME the greatest

Around 5 years ago i discovered Mame It to me was an awesome thing in my life as it allowed me to play old classic video games in the comfort of my PC. I remember a mame rom pac-man which was the first game i played on it, it was awesome I remember my brother loved his amiga so much but once he saw mame he said to me will mame emulate the commodore amiga which obviously not, even though the amiga was class it could never match up to the real video game quality, only mame could do that.

I mean who would of guessed that it would be possible to be playing streetfighter 2 in 2006 or most video games for that matter I mean without mame I would never have clocked shinobi or R-type with out going broke.

I remember Mame Roms Donwload were allot easier 5 years ago than they are now seems as though its all tightening up which is a good thing anyway am only gutted that these games are not accessible for everyone to play, I just hope the new xbox360 can get most of these classic video games as i would like to play them again especially as the xbox360 has got online compatibility so we can finally get are asses kicked on streetfighter 2 by the worlds greatest players around the world,I think its the one game we we all think we are the best at it, well i do anyhow.

Time for me to play with my new toy which is a BMX and see if i can Learn BMX Trick hopefully rekindle my bunny hop skills.

The Evolution of Video Game Systems

I used to be an arcade nut. I spent most of my time in the local video games hot spots to play the latest fighting, shooting, and racing games. I would also frequent the video game stores at the mall with my friends. We would compete against each other in popular arcade games like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat. Video games were a teenager’s favorite pastime back in the early 90’s. I must have spent a fortune in quarters in those video games machine.

It’s almost the same when I would tell customers how much they had spent on video rentals so far. I always find this quite amusing. The customers’ first reaction would usually be a wince; then they would snicker at the ridiculousness of it all, but finally most of them went home ticked off. I think some of them wanted to have their money back. That’s just the way people are. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Well, most of the time anyway. Nevertheless, when it comes to arcade and video games systems, millions of people were hooked long ago. The only significance nowadays is that modern video games systems for homes have become more advanced and sophisticated.

Arcades nowadays are not as popular as it was during my time. Most kid’s these days are investing in video games system of their own. Systems like Game Cube, Playstation 2, and Xbox are very popular. Why would kids go to local arcades and to spend their money on video games, when they can simply receive a system of their own during their birthday or at Christmas? Modern personal video games are not very expensive and most kids can own portable versions like the Gameboy Advance Sp. The advancement in gaming makes personal video games more fun and exciting.

Video games during my childhood and teenage years seem prehistoric when compared to contemporary video games systems. The first system I owned when I was in elementary school was an Atari. Then later down the road, video games systems evolved into Nintendo. These games are obsolete in comparison to modern systems, but they represent the evolution of video games into their present status. This evolution will only continue and you can expect more exciting developments to video games systems. Hop online and discover the latest games, models, and accessories.

You can never forget Double Dragon

I have played this game hundreds of times, and on all different formats. This game is in my mind an all time classic. Who can forget that elbow smash, the flying kicks and the kicking and kneeing some bad guys until they get knocked out or should i say to death. I remember how ridiculously difficult it was to jump the bridge and if you did make it you got Mr T there to throw you back.

From start to finish the game is great there are not many scrolling fighting games that have stood out individually, this game was the bench mark and all others just copied from it although you have to give credit to Renegade.

This game got so many colour full characters, great music that is just easy to remember, superb graphics and most importantly of all good playability and one of the few games I remember for the time to utilize 2 players fighting along side each other ( I use to pretend and use new britains toy soldiers as pretend fighting partners thats how sad i was ) its a shame they both got to fight to the death for the same girl at the end, you would think they would kick every ones asses then kill the boss with the gun and then just flip a coin to see who goes home with her.

My all time classic and unforgettable 9/10

Is Track and Field still a classic?

After just playing this game Konami Track & Field(1983) I must say it was quite fun doing the 100 metres , long jump, javelin throw, 100 metre hurdles, shot put (at least i think it was) and the high jump, after completing it 7 times in a rowe,I must be sad.

Well I can see why I liked the game so much, its all about tapping the buttons as fast as possible repeatedly and getting your angles right, am sure in 83 this was one of the best 2 player games around to compete against your friends in the 100 metres etc.

The presentation is not really there for a video game of that year it pretty much goes to the title screen and then 100 metres.

The graphics are nice and as good as you can get for that era, the playability is great and the lastability is good for 1 hour until you master the events then.

Overall for nostalgia terms its a nice game and every now and again its worth a game.

7/10

Spy Hunter not how i remembered it

I cant believe it, I have just played spy hunter and cant beleve how poor it is. The graphics for then I would say are pretty good some nice sprites etc. The sound effects and music I would have to say are standard nothing special or catchy. The gameplay i would say is not how i remember its really a difficult game to play very fast and very difficult to avoid the dangers ahead.

The object of the game is your like a secret agent type of character and your mission is to drive and shoot the bad guys, knock the bad guys in to tree's and drive as fast as possible to reach your destination before the timer finishes. I use to have this game on my spectrum and from what i remember am sure it was easier than the video game versionl. I would have to rate it 65/100

When did the video game era begin for me

So why is it when people talk about old video games they seem to be always talking about Pacman, Pong and Space invaders etc. Lets be honest were they really that good? the year when better games started to appear (well in my opinion) was in 1983 with games such as Spy hunter ,Mario Bros and Track & Field. These games took it to another level. It was the beginning of new era with an increase in video games in arcades, cafes and fish and chip shops.

I remember being a kid playing games with the steering wheel like spy hunter; shooting cars then going in to the water and changing into a boat, also track and field tapping buttons down as fast as possible to generate speed for the 100 metres or a long jump and what about Karate champ with the unique 2 joystick system to beat your opponent not to mention timing that punch on the bull before it kills you. I must of had about 50 11x8 scrapbooks that had drawings of video games characters in them i still have it even to this day.

These games are classics and in my opinion were the start of the quality games era.
